Nice warm spring... After dinner, before the sun fully set, we took a walk around block... SoCal Living!

Had a few minutes to spare this morning... so I decided to take a few snaps of the orchid plant that we had. Using sun light filtered through the window blinds, I tried to give it some interesting light and perspective. Not a lot of people shoots it from behind, exposing some of the veins and glow.
Even with a cloudy day, we had to go out and do something. It always amazes me how underused the LA Metro system is. Maybe the problem is because it doesn't start where you need it, and sometimes it doesn't stop where you want. But with a 4 year old, it can be quite an adventure for him. So we drove to the Goldline station at Madre St, then took the metro into Chinatown for some dimsum for lunch. Of course, there are always some photographic opportunities... More can be seen in the personal gallery [HERE].
Really missed going out and shooting lately... I just had to make do with what opportunities I get at home :)
We finished this 3000-piece puzzle some time last year (or was it the year before?), but we finally took the time and effort to glue it and frame it today. It's measured 48" x 32" in size... quite amazing to look at up close.
Hey, look what other critter we found around our house today... One year ago from yesterday, was the day that my M9 arrived at my front door and thus my journey begun. This incredible ride has met all of my expectation and more, in addition, the M9 and all the lenses I have accumulated along the way have never disappointed.
The famous Henri Cartier-Bresson (HCB) has said: "You first 10,000 photographs are your worst". I just checked the shutter counts and it seems that I have shot over 6,100 images in the past year. I definitely feel that here are still much to learn and explore. My framing and composition are still amateur at best, and my post-processing skill still leaves a lot to be desired and lacks my own style and signature. With that said, though, I have gotten lucky a few times, and that has been enough to fuel my passion and keeps me going. Discontent is a sign of ambition and a necessity of progress, let's see what the next year will bring! Sometimes, good light is all you need. After my son came home from school today, as I watched him playing on the floor, I saw the late afternoon light and took a few snaps. The high contrast images looked almost perfect straight out of the camera. All I did was to recover some highlights and slightly lower the clarity slider. I really like the BW treatment one, too, with a slight platinum tone. |
